Certina DS PH200M - Back to the future

With the DS PH200M, the Swiss watch brand Certina is reviving a historic model that has lost none of its topicality. The DS PH200M seamlessly follows on from the timeless design of its predecessor and combines it with a powerful automatic caliber of the latest generation.Certina has always liked to get to the bottom of things - not only in terms of precision and durability, but also when exploring the oceans. In the 1960s and 1970s, Certina demonstrated the robustness of its own timepieces in a series of high-level research projects and expeditions. These voyages not only took the watches to dizzying heights, but also to the bottom of the sea. This experience inspired the brand to create a new timepiece dedicated to life underwater: the DS PH200M.

Its stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.8 mm is fitted with a scaled, unidirectional rotating black bezel. It frames a black dial from which SuperLumiNova-coated hands and indexes stand out perfectly even in the dark. As in the past, the relief of a turtle, the Certina brand symbol, greets you on the back of the watch. The model is rounded off by a cuddly blue Nato textile strap with a pin buckle and a Milanese strap for elegant use. The similarities with the original are more than superficial: like its predecessor, the new DS PH200M is provided with the original DS concept of the 1960s. In contrast to modern Certina watches, a curved Hesalit box glass with anti-reflective coating on one side and a scratch-resistant NEX Scratchguard coating as well as a separate suspension ring ensure double security - and water resistance up to 20 bar. The precision and mileage of the mechanical timepiece are nevertheless decidedly contemporary. An innovative Powermatic 80 caliber ensures accuracy and a power reserve of 80 hours. So the new, old DS PH200M Powermatic 80 bows to the past and at the same time looks resolutely to the future!
