With the DS PH200M, the Swiss watch brand Certina revives a historic model that has lost none of its relevance. The DS PH200M seamlessly connects to the timeless design of its predecessor and combines it with a powerful automatic caliber of the latest generation.

Historical heritage and modern technology

Certina has always enjoyed getting to the bottom of things – not only in terms of precision and durability but also in the exploration of the oceans. In the 1960s and 1970s, Certina demonstrated the robustness of its timepieces in a series of high-profile research projects and expeditions. These journeys took the watches not only to dizzying heights but also to the depths of the sea. This experience inspired the brand to develop a new timepiece dedicated to life underwater: the DS PH200M.

Design and functionality

Its stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.8 mm is equipped with a scaled, unidirectionally rotating black bezel. It frames a black dial, from which SuperLumiNova-coated hands and indices stand out perfectly even in the dark. On the back of the watch, the relief of a turtle, the brand symbol of Certina, greets as it did back then.

Versatile carrying options

The model is rounded off with a snug blue NATO textile strap with a pin buckle and for elegant use with a Milanese strap. The similarities to the original are more than superficial: Like its predecessor, the new DS PH200M is equipped with the DS original concept from the 1960s.

Innovative movement and materials

Unlike the modern Certina watches, here a curved Hesalite box glass with anti-reflective coating on one side and scratch-resistant NEX Scratchguard coating, as well as a separate suspension ring, provide double safety – and a water resistance of up to 20 bar. The precision and performance of the mechanical timepiece are still decidedly contemporary. An innovative Powermatic-80 caliber ensures accuracy and a power reserve of 80 hours.
