Arita Porcelain: A Heritage of Japanese Craftsmanship
Arita, a small town on Kyushu, the third largest island in southwestern Japan, became famous at the beginning of the 17th century when clay suitable for porcelain production was found there. The porcelain products were soon appreciated in Japan for their high quality and artistry. An equally impressive history is shown by the mechanical movements of the Seiko Presage models, which come from the heritage of Seiko's over 100-year watchmaking tradition.
Handcrafted Dials by Master Hiroyuki Hashiguchi
The dials of the automatic watch are developed by the experienced craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi and his colleagues in collaboration with the Presage team and manufactured by a renowned craft company in Arita, which has been producing porcelain since 1830. The production of the dials takes place in a multi-stage process that requires skill, patience, and experience. The dials are given a glaze unique to Arita porcelain, which gives them a deep, rich surface.
