Damascus steels are said to have legendary properties. People talk about their incredible durability, films like 'Highlander' create an almost mystical aura around the 'folded' blades, and even today you hear that, for example, a knife made of Damascus can split nails without taking damage.

The starting material for producing Damascus steel is iron with varying contents of accompanying elements such as carbon, manganese, silicon, etc. Damascus steel is folded, forged, folded again, forged, ...

This creates individual internal structures. Humphrey uses selected Damascus steels with suitable patterns.
The result is optical delights that alternately impress with their dark and light drawn lines. They arise from etching the surface because the different layers emerge here. Each piece of jewelry is unique and extraordinary.

A pattern reminiscent of wood grain appears on the ear jewelry. These structures run through and through and can be re-etched at any time. Each pattern is unique and cannot (!) be influenced. The pattern is as it is.

The hoops run eccentrically (thicker at the top, thinner at the bottom) so that the stone does not pierce into the interior and the hole in the ear is nicely covered. All edges are softened and feel smooth.

The spring (closure patent) is integrated into the ear jewelry and therefore cannot be lost. The weight is low. Thus, this ear jewelry is also suitable for sensitive ears.

The brilliants are held by the force (tension) of the earring bar. They appear to float in the ear jewelry. To ensure this, two notches in the shape of the brilliant are made in the bar using computer-controlled machines.

Humphrey has perfected this setting technique since the mid-90s and offers a 2-year warranty on the secure hold of the gemstone with proper care. However, the lifespan is unlimited. Most jewelry pieces ever produced by Humphrey are still worn today.

Brilliants:

The 4 C’s are important for brilliants. Diamonds are evaluated at 10x magnification:

- Carat (Gewicht): In this piece of jewelry, the brilliants weigh 0.12 ct. (each 2.5 mm diameter)

- Color (Farbe): The diamonds we use have the color F or Top Wesselton.

- Clearity (Reinheit): Humphrey generally uses VS stones. VS stands for very small inclusions, which are barely visible to the naked eye.

- Cut (Schliff): This is the most important C for us. It determines whether the diamond sparkles in normal light or looks dull. Often manufacturers cut corners here. Humphrey uses only brilliant cuts that are excellently cut.
