Mido has added that certain something to this look that gives the watch its very special character: A beige Super-LumiNova® in vintage style decorates the main display elements. In the dark, this phosphorescent material glows green, allowing the time to be read perfectly. Its unique feature, typical of an icon: The large date window at 6 o’clock. The highlight with protective function is the faceted and domed sapphire crystal, which offers excellent readability.

The transparent case back reveals the gears in the mechanical heart of the Commander Big Date. The Caliber 80 with large date display features a rotor decorated with Geneva stripes. This famous automatic movement combines excellent autonomy – a power reserve of up to 80 hours – with a Nivachron™ balance spring. The use of this shock-resistant and durable material reduces the impact of magnetic fields and thus guarantees precision. The Commander Big Date is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bar (50 m/165 ft).
