Certina DS-2 - new standards in terms of durability
The new DS-2 Turning Bezel from the Swiss watchmaker Certina brings the swinging sixties back to life with its tonneau-shaped case and vintage design. At its heart, however, it is entirely committed to the here and now: its automatic movement ticks with an 80-hour power reserve and NivachronTM balance spring. The gray-blue striped Sea Turtle Conservancy special edition is also dedicated to the future: the preservation of our oceans and their inhabitants.
A design with recognition value
The predecessors of the DS-2 Turning Bezel set standards in terms of durability and style in the 1960s. The new collection is no different. The tonneau-shaped case (42 x 41 mm) features a unidirectionally rotating bezel. While the regular models are dressed in classic stainless steel, the Sea Turtle Conservancy Edition is made of ultra-light titanium. Complementing this is the matte black dial with rectangular hands and indices coated with Super-LumiNova®. The special edition is worn on a gray-blue striped textile strap made from #tide ocean material® with a titanium buckle. The stainless steel models are delivered with two interchangeable straps.
A strong heartbeat
The DS-2 Turning Bezel is powered by an automatic caliber with an 80-hour power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron® balance spring. Its delicate mechanics can be admired through the transparent case back. It drives the displays of hours, minutes, seconds, as well as the date at 3 o'clock precisely and reliably. The screwed crown and the proven DS system ensure water resistance up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 m).
A special edition for a good cause
The unidirectionally rotating bezel, the high water resistance, the strap made of #tide ocean material® – no question, the DS-2 has an affinity for the wet element. And this is especially true for the special edition: A portion of its proceeds goes to the Sea Turtle Conservancy. This non-profit organization has been committed to the protection of sea turtles and their habitats for decades – a good cause that Certina has supported for a long time.
