Diver's Watch "Divers Date" – A Tribute to Iconic Times
"In the run-up to the 60th anniversary of one of our most legendary designs, we are pleased to present a new collection of enhanced dive watches, inspired by the style and spirit of the 1960s."
A watch for every season
Six decades after the introduction of our first dive watch, the new Divers Date brings the creative and joyful decade back to life. The 1960s were a time of cultural revolution – art, music, film, fashion, and design experienced a surge that resonates to this day. In this era, figures like Sean Connery's James Bond, Alain Delon, The Beatles, Jane Birkin, and Mary Quant with their iconic miniskirts were influential. It was the time of the "Swinging Sixties" – an era that sparkled with energy and optimism.
In these years, Oris had already made a name for itself as one of the largest watch manufacturers in the world, known for stylish designs, mechanical precision, and reliability. During this time, when many people were seeking new adventures, Oris created its first diving watch – a highly functional yet playful model that was inspired by the trends of the emerging diving sport, which gained popularity through icons like Jacques Cousteau and James Bond.
The Return of an Icon
For the 50th anniversary in 2015, Oris released the Divers Sixty-Five as a tribute to the original dive watch – with modern updates such as a curved sapphire crystal, a corrosion-resistant stainless steel case, and an automatic movement. Now, in celebration of the upcoming 60th anniversary, it is time for another upgrade.
Modern design with nostalgic flair
The latest Divers Date has been completely revamped while retaining its relaxed, playful charm of the 60s. Its robust stainless steel case has gained weight and presence, and the water resistance has been increased from 10 bar to 20 bar, making it even more suitable for recreational diving.
The rotatable dive ring has also been improved to provide better grip and robustness, while the bezel is now made of scratch- and color-resistant ceramic material. The dial, available in black, blue, and beige, presents a subtle reinterpretation – the hour markers now have beveled edges for better readability, and the specially developed font gives the design a strong yet nostalgic appeal.
Even more comfort and functionality
The metal bracelet has been refined and now features a quick-change system to easily swap it out for the included black rubber strap. Despite the improved water resistance, the watch now has a transparent case back that reveals the enhanced Oris Caliber 733 with a 41-hour power reserve.
