Diving watch “Divers Date” – A homage to iconic times
In advance of the 60th anniversary of one of our most iconic designs, we are pleased to present a new collection of enhanced dive watches inspired by the style and spirit of the 1960s.
A watch for every season
Six decades after the launch of our first diver's watch, the new Divers Date brings the creative and joyful decade back to life. The 1960s were a time of cultural revolution - art, music, film, fashion and design experienced a boom that continues to resonate today. This era saw greats like Sean Connery's James Bond, Alain Delon, The Beatles, Jane Birkin and >Mary Quant is influential with her iconic miniskirts. It was the time of the “Swinging Sixties” – an era that was bursting with energy and optimism.
During these years, Oris had already made a name for itself as one of the largest watch manufacturers in the world, known for stylish designs, mechanical precision and reliability. During this time, when many people were looking for new adventures, Oris created its first diving watch - a highly functional yet playful model that was based on the trends of the emerging sport of diving, characterized by icons like Jacques Cousteau and James Bond gained popularity.
The Return of an Icon
For its 50th anniversary in 2015, Oris released the Divers Sixty-Five as a tribute to the original diver's watch - with modern updates such as a domed sapphire crystal, a corrosion-resistant stainless steel case and an automatic movement. Now, on the occasion of the upcoming 60th anniversary, it is time for another upgrade.
Modern design with a nostalgic flair
The latest Divers Date has been completely redesigned without losing its relaxed, playful 60s charm. Its robust stainless steel housing has gained weight and presence, and the water resistance has been increased from 10 bar to 20 bar, making it even more suitable for recreational diving.
The rotating diving ring has also been improved to provide better grip and robustness, while the insert is now made from scratch and fade resistant ceramic material. The dial, available in black, blue and beige, features a subtle reinterpretation - the hour markers now have beveled edges for better readability, and the specially developed font adds to the design a strong but at the same time nostalgic charisma.
Even more comfort and functionality
The metal bracelet has been refined and now has a quick change system so you can easily swap it for the included black rubber strap. Despite the improved water resistance, the watch now has a transparent caseback that reveals the improved Oris caliber 733 with a 41-hour power reserve.
