1969 – a year in which Japanese engineering made sports history. DATSUN presented its first sports car, the 240Z, and Seiko introduced the revolutionary Speedtimer. Both became icons – one on the road, the other on the wrist. At the legendary East African Safari Rally 1971, the Seiko logo adorned the winning DATSUN model – a symbol of precision, performance, and endurance.
Today this story returns with the Seiko Speedtimer Automatic DATSUN Limited Edition, limited to only 2,500 pieces worldwide.
Design with motorsport soul
The matte dial of the SPB517J1 recalls the instruments of a rally cockpit – reduced, functional, and full of dynamics. Red accents on the seconds hand and inner bezel set the pace, while the DATSUN logo at 6 o'clock unmistakably marks the historical reference. The rotating inner ring can be used as a countdown timer via the crown at 4 o'clock – a tool that impresses visually and works at racing speed.
Built for performance
The hard-coated stainless steel case with a diameter of 39.5 mm sits compactly on the wrist, while the domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures perfect visibility. 20 bar water resistance, a power reserve of more than 72 hours, and the robust caliber 6R55 make the watch a reliable partner – whether on the racetrack, country road, or in everyday life.
