Humphrey Colored Gemstone Hoop Earrings Stainless Steel 14*7mm
with clip mechanism, steel pin with colored gemstone 4x4mm
The sides and inner surfaces of the hoop earrings are polished. The outer surface is matte. The hoop earrings are eccentric (thicker at the top, thinner at the bottom) so that the stone does not pierce through to the inside and the hole in the ear is nicely covered. All edges are softened and feel soft. Humphrey uses nickel-free stainless steel.
The spring (patented closure) is integrated into the earring and cannot be lost. The weight is low. This makes this earring suitable for sensitive ears.
The colored gemstones are held in place by the force (tension) of the earring bar. They appear to float in the earrings. To ensure this, two notches in the shape of the colored gemstones are made in the bar using computer-controlled machines.
Humphrey has perfected this setting technique since the mid-1990s and, if treated properly, offers a 2-year guarantee that the gemstone will stay securely in place. However, the lifespan is unlimited. Most of the jewelry ever produced by Humphrey is still worn.
Topaz Blue:
Topaz takes its name from an island in the Red Sea, which in ancient times was called Topazos. In fact, another mineral, olivine, was mined there and was long confused with topaz. Another explanation of the name goes back to the Sanskrit word tapas, which means "fire" or "shine".
Topaz has been known for at least 2000 years and is one of the gemstones that form the foundations of the twelve gates to the city of God, the New Jerusalem. These stones were intended to serve as a symbol of beauty, splendor and as a defense against enemies.
The color of the topaz ranges from yellow, light blue, light green, yellow-brown, reddish brown, red, violet and colorless. Humphrey only uses blue and white topazes. Many topazes are changed in color through treatment. This is also the case with our blue topazes, as they would otherwise attract enormous prices.
With a grade of 8 on the 10-part Mohs scale, topaz is one of the hardest of all gemstones – only diamond, sapphire and ruby are harder.
