Seiko Prospex - Modern Interpretations of the Legendary Diver’s Watch from 1965

Historical Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Since the release of its first diver's watch in 1965, Seiko has continuously developed new technologies, features, and designs that have garnered the favor of professional and sports divers worldwide. With over half a century of innovation, Seiko has consistently expanded the technology and capabilities of sports watches, particularly diver's watches. Continuous improvements in safety, reliability, readability, and ease of use have made Seiko a leading manufacturer of diver's watches.

The History of Seiko: A Century of Innovation

Since its beginnings in 1881, Seiko has consistently introduced innovations in line with the founder's philosophy: "Always one step ahead of the rest." In 1924, the company introduced its first wristwatch bearing the Seiko name on the dial, marking the beginning of the Seiko brand. The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of this groundbreaking event. To celebrate this milestone, a special edition with an anthracite dial is being introduced.

This special edition features gold-colored accents to commemorate the anniversary year and to honor the numerous advancements in watchmaking that have been made under the Seiko name.

New Prospex Creations: Modern Interpretations of 1965

Seiko introduces three new Prospex creations, modern reinterpretations of the original Seiko diver's watch from 1965. These watches offer a water resistance of 300 meters and an impressive three-day power reserve.

Enhanced Performance, Higher Water Resistance, and Better Readability

Each of the new watches is powered by Seiko's latest automatic movement, the caliber 6R55, which offers a 72-hour power reserve. These watches now ensure a water resistance of up to 300 meters - a first for Prospex diver's watches outside of saturation diving. The date window has been moved to between four and five o'clock to allow for a more symmetrical design and to optimize readability in the dark. The LumiBrite-coated index at 3 o'clock also contributes to improved readability.

Compact Design and High Wearing Comfort

The new models provide the reliability, safety, and ease of use that are expected from a Seiko diver's watch. With a case diameter of 40.0 mm, a length of 46.4 mm from lug to lug, and a thickness of 13.0 mm, these watches offer compact dimensions and excellent wearing comfort for everyday use. A new bracelet with shorter links and a smaller clasp allows for precise adjustment to the wearer's wrist, offering added comfort. The short lugs also ensure a high level of comfort on the wrist.
